Its a wrap

Another season has come and gone.  So many great things happened this season.  So many memories and so much to look forward to.
Some of my highlights of the season include my podium finishes in Finland, China, Lake Placid and World Championships.  I also enjoyed my mid-season training at Apex, and finishing the season in the sunshine in Sweden.
My 2 main goals coming into this season were to be more consistent, and to stand on the podium again at World Championships.  Once again, the hard work paid off and I feel that I really accomplished those goals.  I am feeling much more confident and calm in the gate, which makes competing that much more enjoyable, too.
This season was all about just trying to be in the moment and skiing for me.  I was carrying many emotions from the Games, and there were many changes with my coaches and sponsors to deal with.  It took a lot to stand up there every time, but it gave me strength to know that I can lay down a great run under any circumstance.  I am just barely putting all of the pieces together to stand on that podium consistently.  It is like a giant multilayered jigsaw puzzle that, in the end, puts me on the podium and lets me achieve my goals.  It takes passion, mental focus, awareness, adversity, strategy, technical ability, physical strength and courage to be able to ski at the top of this sport.  It has been fun learning all the pieces.
Our team was really on fire this year, winning a record 42 World Cup and 13 World Championship medals.  It was great to be a part of such a strong force, which was a direct result from the influx of funding and support into the Canadian Sport systems over the past 4 years.  I hope that the support will continue and we will keep seeing these kinds of results from Canadian athletes.
I still can’t believe that its time to hang up the skis after another season, but I am excited for some very different adventures this spring and summer.
I will be opening up an artisan boutique in Pemberton at the end of April, called One Earth Collection.  It is a great way to be a part of the community and express my passion for the arts.  I will also be coaching some young girls for a weekend with Jenn Heil and Chloe Dufor-Lapointe.  I am excited to spend some time with the young generation of freestylers and pass on some of my experience.  Also in my schedule are 9 school visits through the Act Now BC program, and a Yoga Teacher Training course in Ucluelet.
A massive thanks to my family, my coaches Darcy and Jim, RBC, DJ Ortho, K2, Smith, Lululemon, Vega, Full Tilt, Comor, The Smile Enhancement Studio, the Canadian Government, Colombia, Canada Post, Canadian Olympic Committee, Bell and ActNow BC for enabling me to go out there and pursue my dreams.
