Ahhh... sunshine. A little bit of vitamin D goes a long way. What a breath of fresh air to be here in the iconic ski village of Meribel, France. This really is the epidomy of European ski life... basking in the sun on the patio after a few runs, maybe enjoying a cappucino and a crepe, then taking another casual ride up one of the many gondolas to enjoy the vistas from above. They really know how to live it up here. They remind me that it is not in the perfection of their ski runs, but in the enjoyment of the entire ski experience. It is about sharing it with others, enjoying the fresh air, and relaxing into the culture of European skiing. It is not one event in the day that defines the enjoyment level of the day, it is in the entire experience, start to finish.
While I was expecting some soft snow from the rumors of a massive snowfall in Europe, we have, on the contrary, arrived to a recently rained on and now frozen block of ice which we call our mogul course. The moguls are sharp, icy, and firm. Not my ideal coruse, but one that I will have to take a different challenge on... the challenge of pointing my skis throguh the icy ruts and trusting that that will keep me more balanced and in control. Every day poses new challenges, and it is whether or not I am willing to face those that will create success or not. Bring it on.
And regardless of my time at the mogul course, I still get to enjoy the European ski culture for 3 days. yay.
